The hotel is across the street from the Beurs van Berlage, the building formerly housing the Amsterdam Stock Exchange, and around the corner from Dam Square.
The entrance to Continental Hotel Amsterdam is in a small alley at the side of the building, and the reception area is on the ground floor. There are many different types of rooms offered, with a wide range in shape and size, and the bathrooms have been renovated recently. Some rooms have a view of the lively Damrak, and there is a vast selection of souvenir shops, fast food restaurants, bars, and coffeeshops surrounding the hotel. Given that Continental Hotel Amsterdam is located on the main street of the city, it is ideal for budget travelers who want to be in the center of what is happening in Amsterdam.

Continental Hotel Amsterdam, also called Continental City Center Hotel Amsterdam, was the first accommodation opened by the Win Hotels Amsterdam family chain. It has since been sold and is no longer associated with the company. Continental Hotel Amsterdam was once more like a hostel, offering mostly dormitory beds, as a consequence of the previous owners also managing other hostels, but it has now returned to operating like a budget hotel and offers many types of private rooms.
